Dental Implants or Artificial Tooth
Dental implants are prosthetic teeth designed to replace your missing teeth. The benefit of using dental implants is they do not rely on neighboring teeth for support and they are stable and permanent. Dental implants are a good solution for tooth replacement as they look and feel like natural teeth.
The process is done in our Vancouver dental office with local anesthesia. The implant post is surgically anchored into your jaw may possibly remain covered until it fuses with the bone. When the implant site is ready, your Vancouver dentist then removes the healing cap from the implant and attaches an extension, or post, to the dental implant. Once the healing is complete the dentist makes a crown that is fixed to the implant post.
Poor oral hygiene is a major reason why some implants fail. It is very important to floss and brush around the implant at least twice a day. You will be given specific instructions on how to take care of your new dental implants.
The success rate for implants relies on the tooth’s purpose and location in the mouth, as well as a patient’s overall health.
