2.
What do I expect in my initial exam?
Your
first visit is spent undergoing a comprehensive examination
including:
Medical
and dental history review
Oral cancer exam
Periodontal (gum) evaluation
Caries detection (using X-rays)
Smile evaluation
This
will take about 30-45 minutes depending on your dental health. The
dentist will then provide you with your individual treatment plan
and will go over details of your needs according to the dental
findings and your own priorities.
After
the dentist oral exam, you could have your gentle cleaning with our
hygienist.
This is the visit that you could ask all your questions and get to
know our team.

• Send
your questions to Dr. Niktash (DrNiktash@PreventiveDentistry.ca)
• Send your questions to Hygienist (Hygienist@PreventiveDentistry.ca)
• Call us at our office: 604-872-8201.
We
will contact you as soon as possible.
4. Do
you accept insurance?
Yes.
Our practice accepts most dental insurance programs used by various
employers in BC. As a courtesy to our patients, we will file your
insurance claims for each visit. Our goal is to maximize your
insurance benefits and make any remaining balance easily
affordable.
The
fees we charge for services are based on the procedure that is to
be done. The fees are the same regardless of whether or not
insurance is involved. Your policy may base its allowance on a
fixed fee schedule which may or may not coincide with our usual
fees.
You
should be aware that different insurance companies and dental plans
vary greatly in the types of available coverage.
If you
have any questions regarding your dental coverage, we encourage you
to contact your insurance provider directly. We will be glad to
file pre-determination of benefits with your dental insurance
carrier before your treatment.
If for
any reason the estimated amount is not paid by your insurance
company, it becomes your obligation.

In
order to help us to keep our fees reasonable, payments are expected
at the time services are rendered. We gladly accept Cash,

and
Master
Card.
If you have dental insurance, we will either generate computerized
insurance form or send your claim directly to the insurance by

to receive the maximum benefit allowed through your insurance
provider.

6. Do
I need to inform you if I can not make to my
appointment?
Yes.
For every appointment, we reserve the doctor, staff, and the room
for the duration of the appointment period. As a courtesy to our
office and to allow us to continue serving you better, we ask you
to inform us of the need to change or cancel appointments two (2)
business days prior to your dental appointment.
7.Should I be concerned about the possible transmission of
diseases in the dental office?
Infection
control is an important part of any health practice. For the safety
of our patients and staff, we strictly observe the infection
control guidelines. We use universal precautions as recommended by
the Canadian dental Association and Center for Disease Control. We
use dental masks, gloves, and safety glasses for all our
patients.
The dental rooms are sanitized for every patient, maintaining the
optimum in asepsis, for every visit. Our instruments are sterilized
by autoclave (steam sterilizer). The items which are not sterilized
are either disposable or cold sterilized using a chemical
solution.
Our
office uses bottled water (instead of city tap water) in our dental
system to prevent biofilm formation in dental unit waterlines. This
reduces bacterial contamination in dental water lines and dental
units.
We
welcome your questions and suggestions.
